President’s Message – February 2026

Welcome to the Marin County Management Employees Association (MCMEA).

Our mission is to ensure fair representation in labor negotiations, support professional growth, and advocate for the resources and respect our over 500 represented members need to carry out their work serving the community.

Membership matters. By joining MCMEA, you strengthen our collective voice and help us continue to protect and improve wages, benefits, and working conditions. Together, we create the space to address challenges, celebrate successes, and support one another in the complex and important work we do every day.

What makes MCMEA unique is that our members are the County’s managers and leaders, the people responsible for turning the mission and vision of the County Executive, Department Heads, and Board of Supervisors into action every day. This unique position means we approach our work with a collaborative, solutions-oriented mindset, seeking outcomes that are mutually informed and grounded in a deep understanding of County operations and priorities. At the same time, we’re not afraid to push back when needed to protect fairness, integrity, and the wellbeing of our members.

MCMEA is affiliated with Teamsters Local 856, which provides us with valuable support in contract negotiations, legal representation, and member advocacy. While we value this partnership, MCMEA remains an independent association governed by our own board, bylaws, and member decisions. This structure allows us to draw on the strength and resources of a large labor organization while maintaining the local focus and autonomy that best serve our members and the County we represent.

We encourage all members to stay engaged. MCMEA holds monthly board meetings where we discuss current issues and set priorities. If you’d like to attend, please contact your branch representative for details. Note: You must be a dues-paying member to attend board meetings.
